There are only a handful of outtakes from the studio sessions for Slow Train Coming on the 9 disc version. Fred Tackett handled lead guitar for the live shows. His guitar tone is very present all the tracks so the outtakes from that period are very interesting for the MK fan if he appears on them.

To each his own I guess. More Bootleg BOB!! This series along with Tull is the best thing going. I assume there will be no marbles but that is a minor quibble. Saw Dylan in Dublin in May: a great show, and better than a couple of years previously. I went to Blackbushe in and saw the best concert of my life. I took my Intro - Bob Dylan - Live Mercy (CD in to Earls Court and he performed this garbage. The worst concert I have ever seen.

A great disappointment. Why anyone would want to buy this I do not know. The earlier discs sets were great and I love them all, even up to the 3 disc Tell Tale Signs although the price for the 3 disc set was crazy.

I kinda think they should just keep them to discs tops. Just put out a 2 disc set from the gospel years with all the unreleased tracks and a small selection of the live tracks that are different enough from the studio version to make it interesting.

Or put out a separate live album with a full concert. Hi Aron, I agree with you on some points, although when it comes to Dylan, in my opinion, him more than any artists, I am intrigued in listening to the different versions of his songs. Yes Over 20 tracks of like a rolling stone may be too much but the different versions of Just like a woman that were found on the 6 disc edition of the cutting edge were amazing, to see how it transitions from one version to another to the final product is like being with him in the studio.

The same can apply for his live songs except for the neverending tour which has been almost the same arrangements throughout the same song differ from one tour to another whether its better or worse than the original version and it is really interesting to listen to all of them.

I am excited to hear the arrangements on ballad of a thin man during this tour personally!!! If they want to create a pretentious film that combines edited video performance clips with footage of Michael Shannon, fine. But give us the complete concerts as well. Looking forward to this since it was first rumoured, as Slow Train Coming is my second favourite Dylan album after Oh Mercy.

The two-disc version looks really thoughtfully constructed, but burying Yonder Comes Sin on Disc Four is just mean-spirited. So why not make it more available? Slightly baffling.

Ive digged some shin to these albums! I love it. A welcome release — on every level. Euphoric at times get the remasters. Still too busy working my way through the disc recordings box to buy this just now. Each to their own…. I am sure there are plenty of fans out there who will be really excited by this release…. Has it dropped on previous sets? Going by previous releases, then no. Anything part of the official deluxe set stays in the set. Still no separate release for disc 3 of Vol.

My favorite period of Dylan. I am especially interested in the unreleased songs, some of which look more explicitly Christian at least judging by their titles than the ones that were released. Does anyone know if the Dylan. The site refers to Sandbag UK handling product returns. Clearly if not purchases will be liable to the usual and substantial import duty lottery.

Hang on — asking people to coff up for Album) 9-disc edition to get the unreleased tracks that Intro - Bob Dylan - Live Mercy (CD of most interest?? That is utterly cynical and ridiculous. Especially for a set that covers an era that is far from his best! Deluxe of 10, 11 and 12 all dropped to c. Absolutely no interest in this period of Dylan whatsoever.

There is about an albums worth of decent stuff to be made from his Three Christian albums and Outtakes combined. Sorry but that is just bull to say there is one album of decent material from the era.

Every Grain of Sand could easily rank as Bob best, or one of the best, songs from any era of his career. City of Gold was another sublime song played in concert but not featured on a studio album. Hi Paul, Will you be doing the whole unboxing film thing that you did with the superb Cutting Edge Box?

Also totally agree with the comments about the cover, what in the wide world of sports are they up to? Graphics for the others have been ace — shame to spoil it now. Fairly sure Sony will keep the set consistent. They have done so in the last few years. Yes, will in all likelihood, do an unboxing video! Paul, I believe that actually 6 of the CDs have live recordings and 2 offer studio takes and rehearsals, right?

The remaster campaign from put out a lot of his most acclaimed albums in a seemingly random order, and nothing since. Seems fairly barmy to me.

I appreciate it the official bootleg series but that cover does look like the sort of cover you get on cheap and nasty bootlegs. I think the cover of the inside book is much better, and the title also Pressing On is more fitting. The typography is hideous. Additional shipping not included. I would gladly take the first four discs on their own. Wow wow wow wow wow how much?. I have it on good authority that the Blood On The Tracks sessions will be volume 14 next year, along with a Rolling Thunder era film to come out next year too.

A good time to be a Dylan fan! The Dylan website offers an additional 2disc set, live, when SDE is purchased there. Same prize as on amazon. Further weirdness regarding mono and stereo mixes on the set. Such an edit would have been understandable if it was on one of the discs from the Toronto April or London gigs. Feeling quite disappointed. I ordered from the official website on 28th Sept hoping to get the bonus 2 CD as part of the deluxe set.

The order from bobdylan. Wishing I had ordered from Amazon now so at least I would have the automatic downloads! Your email address will not be published.

Love and Theft is both predictable and completely surprising. He followed it up in with Nashville Skylinewhich saw Dylan mellowing out even further and taking his most countrified approach to songwriting. After changing his sound to electric rock on his previous three albums, Dylan returned to his acoustic folk roots. Year: ? Still working within the folk framework as a solo performer, Dylan abandons his ultra-serious politics for some of the most personal, humorous, poetic and heartbreakingly vulnerable songs in his catalog.

Recorded in just one night in the summer ofAnother Side offers a rare snapshot of the still-developing young artist beginning to find a voice of his own with impressive clarity. Year: After spending much of the s struggling to clearly define a musical identity, Dylan returned to the studio with Time Out of Mindand it was his triumphant return to form. The album went on to win three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year in There arrangements are not in a neat package and the lyrics are as honest as they are disturbing.

The members of his recent touring band, The Hawks later to become better known as The Bandjoined him shortly thereafter, and the group of musicians began writing and recording the music that would eventually become The Basement Tapes.

  3. Oh Mercy is the 26th studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on September 18, , by Columbia fogecardeduro.sterolasesalplatpabesignpoommysqvo.coed by Daniel Lanois, it was hailed by critics as a triumph for Dylan, after a string of poorly reviewed albums. Oh Mercy gave Dylan his best chart showing in years, reaching No. 30 on the Billboard charts in the United States and No. 6 in the UKGenre: Rock.
  4. Oh Mercy was hailed as a comeback, not just because it had songs noticeably more meaningful than anything Bob Dylan had recently released, but because Daniel Lanois' production gave it cohesion. There was cohesion on Empire Burlesque, of course, but that cohesion was a little too slick, a little too commercial, whereas this record was filled with atmospheric, hazy production -- a sound as arty 7/
